Filmed up close in France, the BMW i3 M60 previews an M-badged electric sedan with a 2027 launch and a potential 603 hp setup.

🚀 Key Takeaways:
• Filmed in France, the M60 sedan previews BMW’s next performance EV step.
• Expect a dual-motor setup near 603 horsepower, borrowed from the iX3 M60.
• Production begins early 2027, with US pricing set to exceed $66,050.

BMW i3 M60 is no longer a rumor. Our camera crew caught the sedan in Frozen Ocean Wave Blue during a recent trip to France. It succeeds the i4 M60, and it arrives with a clear mission: bridge the gap to the electric M3.

Why the BMW i3 M60 Matters Now

Our test car wore 21-inch black wheels, but the design is available on standard i3 trims. The M Performance diffuser and M-specific mirror caps separate the M60 from its siblings. Inside, M Sport seats offer 10-way adjustment with massage, while a red 12 o’clock marker signals intent on the steering wheel.

BMW has a history of hiding performance in plain sight, much like the ALPINA X5 prototype that later changed hands. Even so, the M60 wears its aggression openly. Yellow M lights glow only with the low beams in Europe, a detail that differs from the US daytime running light setup.

Fast Specs
⚙️Engine / Powertrain Dual-motor electric AWD (sixth-generation motors)
🐎Power Output 603 HP (est.)
⚡Peak Torque 875 Nm (645 lb-ft) (est.)

🚀Top Speed 155 mph (250 km/h) (est.)
🔄Drivetrain / Gearbox Single-speed reduction gear / AWD
💰Starting Price / Est. $70,000+ (est.)

Meanwhile, the M60 sits above the i3 50 xDrive and below the forthcoming electric M3. That placement gives buyers a potent option without a full-fat M price tag.

Power Projections and the Electric M3 Shadow

BMW has not confirmed output, but the iX3 M60 offers a strong clue. Its two sixth-generation motors combine for 603 horsepower and 875 Nm of torque (est.). A lighter sedan body should sharpen the sprint even further.

Range will likely drop from the i3 50 xDrive’s 912 kilometers on the WLTP cycle. Still, the sedan should remain a capable long-distance cruiser. Ultimately, the ZA0 electric M3 is expected in 2027, with around 800 horsepower.

Pricing Pressure in a Crowded Segment

On paper, the BMW i3 M60 must justify a premium over the i3 50 xDrive M Sport Pro, which starts at $66,050 in the US. In Germany, buyers will pay more than the €72,770 asked for the existing model. Pricing will need to hold against rising performance EVs from rival premium brands.

A Strong Warm-Up for the M3

The M60 is a credible performance sedan with a clear strategic purpose. Expect a Touring variant to follow as an M Performance model, too. Full details will come directly from BMW closer to launch. For more industry intelligence, visit Auto News Magazine.
