Official order books have opened alongside complete mechanical specs for the BMW iX4 price, revealing key powertrain enhancements. The BMW iX4 price sits $4,700 above the iX3 before destination, yet this family’s next car may be the coupe. Our BMW i4 eDrive40 has survived three winters of snow and potholes with only two air conditioning fixes. Its replacement is almost due, and the numbers make the iX4 a closer call than the badge suggests.
Decoding the BMW iX4 price
In the US, the iX4 50 xDrive starts at $66,200 before destination, $4,700 above the iX3 50 xDrive at $61,500. With destination, the gap is $67,695 against $62,850. On paper, that looks like a steep premium for a sloped roofline. In reality, the comparison changes once the iX3 gets the same kit, as BMW’s official lineup makes clear.
The M Sport Package costs $2,500 on the iX3, and the panoramic roof sits in the $1,500 Comfort Package. Loaded that way, the iX3 reaches $65,500, still $700 short of the iX4. Those blue-caliper brakes account for the rest. Our earlier BMW i3 drive proved this platform rewards a driver who cares about dynamics.

Coupe Lines Beat the Upright iX3
Below the beltline, both cars share a 2,897 mm wheelbase, so legroom should barely change. The iX4 sits 40 mm lower at the roof, and a tailgate lip replaces the rear roof spoiler. Its 0.23 drag coefficient edges the iX3’s 0.24, which helps the 828 km WLTP range rating in Europe.
Trunk Space Versus Real Family Needs
The iX4 offers 490 liters behind the rear seats, 30 liters less than the iX3. Folding the seats widens the gap to 150 liters. For a family that rarely folds anything, that extra room would ride around empty. Headroom is the number to watch, since BMW has not published the iX4’s rear figure yet.
Who Should Buy the iX4 Coupe
Ultimately, the iX4 wins on styling, all-wheel drive, and a frunk the i4 never had. Speculatively, the coupe body could hold its resale value better than the upright iX3 as enthusiasts chase the shape. Still, the rear door opening under that roofline remains untested, and US arrival slips to March 2027. Even so, the coupe is our front-runner.
