Lexus has never built a pickup, yet California’s Meso Customs just delivered one anyway. The Lexus LX Pickup began as a digital render by artist Lukemadevids, and this SEMA 2026 debut is the real thing.
Lexus LX Pickup Wears GX Face
Up front, the TX1 borrows heavily from the GX 550, with its grille, headlights, and hood. The prominent Lexus badge and horizontal slats make it instantly recognizable. Still, the doors and greenhouse remain pure Tacoma, and that honesty matters. Its face recalls the 2022 Lexus LX, but the widened bumper and Lexus mirrors do the heavy lifting.
Out back, a full-width LED light bar borrows from the GX 550. The custom bed incorporates part of the SUV’s rear hatch design, and Rivian latches keep the tailgate fully functional. Heated seats and Bluetooth speakers turn it into a rear-facing bench, which is clever engineering with genuine comfort.

Tuned Tacoma Muscle Beneath the Skin
Even so, the Lexus LX Pickup is no bling-only show. King Off-Road shocks, 74Weld portal axles, and 38-inch Toyo Open Country R/T Trail tires deliver real ground clearance and a monolithic stance. Beadlock wheels and upgraded brakes reinforce the adventurous character.
Mechanically, the Tacoma’s turbocharged 2.4-liter four remains, now fitted with an SXTH Element CPLT intake and a front-mounted intercooler. Baja Designs lighting covers the roof, bumper, and mirrors, while a rally-style bar sits above the windshield. Meso Customs displayed a color-matched Honda Grom in the bed, which tells you exactly who this truck is for.
Will Lexus Ever Build One?
As cool as the TX1 is, there is no indication that Lexus plans a production pickup. Meso Customs calls this a one-off, not a conversion kit, and Toyota and Lexus had no involvement. That is a shame, because the Tacoma foundation is proven and the GX 550 supplies the upscale design language.
A proper Lexus interior with richer materials, extra sound insulation, and the brand’s comfort-focused equipment could make an excellent alternative to conventional premium trucks. Perhaps this build gives Lexus some food for thought. Ultimately, a posh truck with this much substance deserves a serious look from the factory.
