🚀 Key Takeaways:
• Direct Connection adds six new Hemi crate engines to its performance catalog.
• The top-tier Hellephant C170 produces 1,025 horsepower on E85.
• Stellantis keeps a manual gearbox option that Ford’s Megazilla lacks.

Dodge Hemi Crate power just got a serious shot in the arm. Direct Connection, the performance parts arm of Stellantis SRT, has launched six new Hemi V8 crate engines. The headline act is the Hellephant C170, rated at 1,025 horsepower on E85. Still, it is little more than a fly buzzing around Ford’s 1,200-horsepower Megazilla 2.0.

Dodge Hemi Crate Power Climbs Higher

Launching the lineup, the Hellcrate Redeye uses a 2.7-liter IHI supercharger. In High Octane Mode, it makes 885 horsepower and 787 lb-ft of torque. Output at this level invites comparison with the Lamborghini Fenomeno Roadster, though this is a crate engine, not a hypercar.

Even so, the Hellephant C170 is the real story for Dodge Hemi Crate fans. Its 3.0-liter supercharger, upgraded intercooler, and new pulley deliver more boost. Injectors and fuel rail handle E85, and the result is 945 lb-ft of twist. The older 426 Hellephant A30 now sits lower on the ladder at 1,000 horsepower.

Entry Crates Bring Street Strip Economics

The entry-level 345 Crate Hemi uses the familiar 5.7-liter Hemi V8. It produces 385 horsepower and 417 lb-ft in both versions. Street Strip models use a remanufactured block, while Super Stock units get a new block, Redeye valve springs, and a Hellcat oil pump.

Stepping up, the 392 Crate Hemi offers 485 horsepower and 475 lb-ft from 6.4 liters. Meanwhile, the same Street Strip and Super Stock split applies. Builders get a clear choice between budget reliability and serious big-block muscle.

Manual Gearboxes Still Matter Here

Crate economics only work when the parts list is complete. Every engine ships with a wiring harness, engine control module, sensors, and a 100,000-mile warranty. Direct Connection also offers the 8HP90 eight-speed automatic, and the engines accept the Tremec six-speed manual from the previous Challenger.

On paper, Ford’s Megazilla wins the peak output contest. In reality, Stellantis is the only one offering a stick with its excessively powerful engines. Ultimately, that gives Direct Connection a genuine differentiator for enthusiast builders. Explore more performance coverage at Auto News Magazine, and check Stellantis performance details at Mopar.

Bragging rights are clearly at play, and the Hemi lost a notch to Ford. Expect a 1,250-horsepower crate Hemi to surface next year, because Direct Connection rarely leaves a gap unfilled.
