Chevrolet rates the 2027 Corvette Z06 at 670 horsepower from its naturally aspirated 5.5-liter V8, and that should have been the end of the conversation. Houston-based Late Model Racecraft disagreed. The result is a Twin-Turbo Corvette Z06 that now runs on pump gas and embarrasses its factory sibling on the dyno.
Forcing Boost Into a Flat-Plane Snarl
LMR fitted a pair of Precision mirror-image ball-bearing turbochargers, chosen because they are air-to-water units rather than grease-lubricated. Fereday says that eliminates the chore of greasing turbos every 1,500 miles. Coolant-fed heat exchangers on both sides of the engine bay manage the heat, while short downpipes help the flat-plane crank V8 keep its voice.
Like the Dodge Charger build that outran its own transmission, this car lives or dies in the gearbox. LMR rewrote the ECM and TCM software, adjusting clutch pressure and shift behavior for the dual-clutch unit. Fereday calls the transmission the real limiting factor on builds like this one.

Why This Twin-Turbo Corvette Z06 Matters
On the dyno, the finished car posted 810 rear-wheel horsepower and 588 lb-ft of torque on ordinary 93-octane gasoline. LMR estimates crank output near 1,000 horsepower, but that figure is a calculation, not a direct engine-dyno measurement. The measured number is the one that counts.
Still, Fereday says it drives like a stock Z06 in Touring mode, with turbo noise surfacing only under underpasses. Even so, the factory rubber struggles to put that torque down in first or second gear. Stickier rear tires are essential for serious launches, and that is the one upgrade I would fit before anything else.
On paper, a daily-drivable C8 making this kind of output is a rare animal. Expect enthusiast demand for cars like this to climb, because a tuned Z06 that still starts cleanly on a cold morning will outlast most of its boosted rivals. Ultimately, this build proves the mid-engine Corvette has more chassis and drivetrain headroom than its spec sheet admits.
