Peugeot's 805 HP tri-motor 308 Hyper Hatch could reach production. See the 2.5s 0-62 mph specs and halo plans.

🚀 Key Takeaways:
• The Peugeot 308 Hyper Hatch could reach production next year, according to Peugeot’s CEO.
• Three electric motors combine for 805 horsepower and a 0-62 mph time of 2.5s.
• Production is limited to a halo run, with Stellantis platform sharing hinting at a Dodge cousin.

The Peugeot 308 Hyper Hatch may be the most intriguing hot hatch in the European pipeline. Stellantis is no longer reserving 800 horsepower for supercars, and this French tri-motor machine proves the point.

Peugeot 308 Hyper Hatch Business Case

Electric performance has inflated fast. A decade ago, 800 horsepower made a supercar. Today, a Rimac Nevera nears 2,000 hp, while a Hyundai Ioniq 5 N delivers 641 hp in a five-door body. Peugeot wants a seat at that table with three motors, one up front and two at the rear, producing a combined 805 horsepower.

The concept traces its lineage to the Peugeot’s Tri-Motor, 805 HP E-T16 Rally Beast study, which first explored this hardware. Torque vectoring splits power among the motors, while the chassis can adjust its suspension settings on the fly.

Peugeot CEO Alain Favey insists the hardware is production ready. Speaking to Autocar, he said the car is based on STLA One and borrows heavily from the new e-208. Peugeot has not committed to a date, but Favey openly mentioned next year as a possibility.

Stellantis Platform Sharing Pays Off

Engineering-wise, the hatch rides on STLA One with an 85 kWh lithium-nickel-manganese pack on an 800-volt architecture. Peugeot claims more than 249 miles of WLTP range, along with enough energy for three laps of the Nürburgring Nordschleife in Performance mode without losing power.

Even so, the business case is narrow. A two-door hot hatch above 800 hp has limited demand, so this will be a low-volume halo rather than a volume seller. On paper, that makes it a collector piece from day one.

Dodge GLH Shadow Looms Large

Peugeot has no American presence, so the hatch will not reach showrooms here under its own badge. Stellantis, however, is building a midsize Dodge GLH on the same platform family. Meanwhile, a three-motor layout in a smaller Dodge would be a logical extension, even if the company has not confirmed it.

Ultimately, the Peugeot 308 Hyper Hatch is a statement of intent. It shows Stellantis can flood a segment with tri-motor torque while protecting its margins through shared architecture. If pricing lands near six figures, expect enthusiasts to treat it as a future classic, not merely a fast hatch.
