Rolls-Royce owners sink their feet into deep lambswool carpets, but Deepal wants to go one step further. The Chinese EV brand has filed a Deepal patent for an extendable rear foot bath that slides out from under the front seats. Passengers could soak their feet while the car is moving.
Inside The Deepal Patent’s Anti-Slosh Engineering
Sloshing is the obvious problem. Anyone who has driven with a coffee cup knows how quickly liquid escapes over a bump or a sharp turn. According to Deepal, the basin’s design blocks water from splashing out, while guide holes let displaced water recirculate into the bottom. The liquid level stays low, at least on paper.
Still, the physics of a moving reservoir is unforgiving. Like the modified Dodge Charger that outgrew its own transmission, the concept depends on whether real-world forces match the engineering drawings.

Heated Soaks And Massaging Rollers
The basin reportedly uses heated water and rollers at the bottom for a light foot massage. A disinfection assembly keeps the water from turning stagnant, and a quick-disconnect drain lets owners empty the tank without leaving the cabin.
Even so, the practical questions are stacking up. Without a towel rack or cubby, wet feet mean soaked carpets, and damp carpets invite mold. That is a serious problem in a premium interior.
Will This Foot Bath Reach Production?
Probably not. Automakers patent speculative ideas to protect future options, and most never reach a showroom. Foot baths are popular in China, though, so demand is not zero. Ultimately, the Deepal patent is more a glimpse of rear-seat ambition than a product you can order.
For now, deep carpets and bare feet still do the job. Die Hard style, it is.
